NIGHT

after the world fell down

it left a weighty weaving darkness

full of fury but no sound

so quiet

we could not hear our own voices

*I wrote this poem on September 11, 2011 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.  OpenLinkNight http://dversepoets.com/

  1. A fine dedication. In the aftermath, so much still hung about the soul...and still hangs...

  2. And didn't it fall! I think the surprise came when the world actually joined together...to help itself rise in the aftermath. A wonderful tribute to a day that changed me forever.

  7. "full of fury but no sound"

The 'loud silence' can very well describe how one feels about that event. One cannot comprehend it, it is a wordless description. Thanks for your write.

  8. Yes, perfect. So true the world fell down that day and the fury was voiceless as impotence is.
